What is actually checked

Trust badges are easy to print and hard to earn. This page says exactly what UNUSED verifies today, and what it does not. Nothing on the site claims more than what is on this list.

Checked today

  • Email address

    Every account confirms its address before it can do anything. A booking, a message or a listing always comes from a reachable address.

  • Payment

    Rentals are paid through Mollie. The money is really moved and really checked; the booking only becomes confirmed when Mollie says the payment went through.

Not checked yet

  • Identity

    No ID is verified. Names on the site are the names people typed in. There is no identity provider behind it, so there is no verified-owner badge either.

  • Business registration

    No Chamber of Commerce number is looked up. A business account is a label somebody chose, not a company that was checked.

  • Deposits

    A deposit amount is agreed and shown on the booking, but nothing is held on anybody's card. There is no card hold behind it.

  • Insurance

    There is no insurance policy. Damage cover on a booking is a fee that is calculated, not a claim anybody has underwritten.

This list will get shorter as things get built. Until then, treat everything under 'not checked yet' as exactly that.
